What national organization plans to hold its annual conference in a location that can only be reached by a four-hour bus trip? Um… that would be the one I’m a member of. Apparently, the only way to get to Idaho Falls, Idaho, this year is to fly into Salt Lake City, Utah, and take a bus the rest of the way. Honestly, it was an easier journey the year they held it in Alaska. At least you could get there from here.

April 23, 2008 at 4:31pmThe better option appears to be to fly into Jackson Hole WY and rent a car… it’s about a 2 hour drive, and the scenery would be a tad more interesting…. Either way, if I go, I’ll end up paying significantly more than usual for this event, in terms of both actual travel costs as well as travel fatigue. Grrr.

April 24, 2008 at 1:09amBy all means, go to Jackson Hole. “Gorgeous” doesn’t begin to describe it. However, it might be more expensive to go in there than into Salt Lake.

April 24, 2008 at 4:09amActually, it might be worth it to have a shorter drive, and my own car so that I can stop and stretch when the need arises. The thought of a four-hour bus trip from SLC makes my bones hurt just thinking about it. I can hardly get from here to St. Louis (also a four-hour drive) without at least two stops to stretch.

April 24, 2008 at 3:22amHey, Allison,
I was thinking of flying into either Jackson Hole or Salt Lake City, and drive from there. Maybe we can coordinate it so that we arrive around the same time and rent a car together.
