I have elected not to participate in a con art show that I’ve been in for the past several years, for specific business reasons. In return for letting them know that I will not be needing space this year and the grounds on which I based my decision, I am receiving incredibly hateful emails containing personal attacks and other invectives… Given this response, I feel confident that I have made the right decision.

October 15, 2008 at 8:20pmYou’re kidding me!!! Talk about professionalism. If I were you, I would send those hateful emails to their conchair. It sounds like they need a new art show director. And this person needs to go on meds.
There are a lot of artists who don’t send in art to a show after a while because they don’t make any money at it for whatever reason. I’ve never heard of THAT. And given the economic conditions of the world, no one should have that attitude.
Good luck to them…

October 17, 2008 at 7:32pmDefinitely in need of medication of some sort. I did send a copy of the email to the con chair, who has not yet acknowledged receipt.

October 15, 2008 at 8:43pmI would send the con head those emails, because its not cool for the art show person to do what they are doing…..

October 16, 2008 at 12:27amAck – that person is giving con ASDs a bad name. Maybe you could send some art my way instead this year? WindyCon is one month out.

October 17, 2008 at 7:30pmIf I can get off my butt and pull stuff together this weekend, sure! Are the forms online, or can I use my own?

October 17, 2008 at 7:35pmYes – rules and all forms are on the web site http://www.windycon.org – I think there’s both fillable PDF (fill and print, but not save) and Word versions up there. To get there you have to click on Departments over on the left side, then Art Show in the list that comes up – scroll to the bottom of the page that comes up to find the rules. I don’t know if all the links are right there, but if not, at the bottom of the rules page.

October 17, 2008 at 7:29pmDone. Here it is 48+ hours later, and I haven’t heard a peep out of them.

October 16, 2008 at 11:58amActually, I think you should submit a single item to the artshow. Make it a collage of the emails, complete with past convention photos from the ass hats who sent them to you in the first place.

October 17, 2008 at 7:27pmBut that would be… rude…. ๐
