Holey Hades, Batman! The bank sign at 85th and Wornall said the temp is 108 degrees this afternoon!?! …checks the news… Gads! Reported highs across the KC metro ranged from 101 to 107 today. Bleh! I picked a lousy day to have a fever…
It didn’t feel as hot as I drove home today (5:14ish). The minivan thermometer said 98 when I put it into the drive (Margene gets home before me and leaves before me so she gets the back of the line…)
that said we’ve got hot zones and cool zones at home, the staircase and bathroom on the 2nd floor is hot, fan is sucking out too. Poor Jim can’t get his room below 85 when it’s like this, being on the third floor sucks. (that plus window was only big enough for a 9000 BTU A/C….we’re working on an assistive technology for when we have another heat storm).
This is supposed to break overnight, and looking at the weather maps it likely will. So we trade steaming for aches and pains (it will feel COLD at first).
Highest today in 20 years, according to the radio. Which is why I stayed inside almost all the time I wasn’t shuttling kids to and from school, or the usual 2pm “dammit Kiyan, take a nap!” drive.
As I write this, it’s Friday morning. When I stepped out the door about 6:30 today into a 77° morning, I thought a light sweater might feel good. That’s how HOT it’s been lately. Seventy-seven degrees is NOT sweater weather!
