I’m back!

I’m back from the NFPW conference in Richmond Va. Next year: Idaho Falls. I’ve never been to that part of the country. I think I might go early or stay after to do some sightseeing.

Still under the weather, but have a followup with my doc tomorrow.

One thing about this illness (or perhaps the medication) that is seriously bugging me is food. Nothing sounds good, looks good, or smells good. In fact, I’ve eaten only white (or pale) food for the past two weeks. Kinda boring actually, and not at all in keeping with my formerly healthy eating habits. I’m not even getting my daily allotment of caffeine.

We’re talking crap here folks — white bread, crackers, noodles, apple juice, ginger ale, pretzels, grits, rice… punctuated by the occasional poached egg, slice of grilled chicken, or salmon filet. I did manage a couple of grilled crab cakes and two oysters at a reception last week.

Today I branched out a little and had a couple of dolmades (rice wrapped in a grape leaf) and some vinegar-dressed slaw (still mostly white, but hey — it’s a plant-based food, right?)
