Most of you know that I hate snow. Not just a little hate, but a big hate that can only come from being raised in the South where snow is a happy luxury that comes only once every 7 years or so and then relocating to the Midwest where it’s entirely possible for snow to arrive November and stick around until April (as it did last year).

So here it is January 10, and we’re getting our first real snow of the season. And lucky me, I had a package that absolutely must be postmarked today. (Sorry, Jenny — it wasn’t yours. But I did find the box that it’s in.) I knew the snow was going to continue all day, so I decided to get out and get my errand done as soon as I got all my ducks in a row and into the package.

I brushed about 3 inches of snow off of my car at about 10 a.m. and headed out. It was a little slushy, but not too bad. Except for the city bus that couldn’t make it up the itty bitty incline at 75th & Wyandotte and one driving-too-fast-for-conditions goober that will soon receive a ticket from the red light camera at 79th & Wornall, I didn’t see any idjits doing anything too stupid.

Unfortunately, my post office up and moved on me, so I had to backtrack to its new location to ship my package. With that done, I returned home. I took this photo of the house while still in the car.

Almost as soon as I got inside, the snow went from “spitting” to “fast and flurrious”. And it’s continued to snow the rest of the day. I’m settled in for the duration, or at least until I go stir-crazy mid-week.
