The pitter patter of puddy paws has returned to the humble abode. Eight puddy paws, to be exact. Meet Mischief and Mayhem, the Trouble Twins:
This sister-brother duo are supposedly part Maine Coon, part tabby. On the left is Mischief, the girl. She insists on biting the roots of my hair and attacking her brother. All. Night. Long. On the right is Mayhem, the boy. He’s a cuddler and a climber. They seem very happy to be here. It’s nice to have cats. They purr.
We weren’t planning on getting cats this weekend. We were shopping for a new shower radio, actually, when we stumbled upon the store-front cat-rescue adoption center. You know the drill… you mention you might be considering adoption, and before you realize what’s happened, they’ve locked you in the “get acquainted” room with the little devils while they check your references. Yep. We’re suckers. But we’ve got cats.

August 28, 2006 at 4:18amI love cats. We almost adopted one when I was home but just as we got the paperwork the cute, purrbot changed into devil cat. -sigh- They are lovely. Glad you have new friends at home.

August 28, 2006 at 10:35pmThanks. The first pair we looked at begged for attention in their cage, but ignored us completely in the “get acquainted” room. This pair were very lovey dovey, and now that they’re home, they are lovey dovey Holy Terrors. All. Night. Long.

August 28, 2006 at 4:50amStore-front cat-rescue adoption center, eh? My, does THAT story sound familiar! We stumbled onto it `cause we’d gone to see a movie, on the wrong day it turned out, and thought we’d wander around a bit since we were there anyway. B and I had an agreement that we wouldn’t get another cat for a very long time, though I’d been pining for one. We came upon the cat-adoption place, he looked at me, sighed, and said “Okay, I know it’s going to happen, we’ll get a cat.” And of course we did. And he adores her. They’re very cute together.
Yours look adorable!

August 28, 2006 at 10:33pmThey are terribly, terminally cute. And I can’t imagine it would take much to win over B. (I think we’re talking about the same storefront, near the Glenwood?)

August 29, 2006 at 4:27amThat would be the very same storefront, yes. Dangerous place. đŸ˜‰ The only regret we have is that our kitty does not like to be picked up and held, though we’re trying to get her to tolerate it with well-timed treats. And she’ll roll on the floor and coyly look up like she wants you to rub her belly, but it’s a dangerous ruse. She does love to jump onto our chests to be petted when we’re sitting down, though.

August 28, 2006 at 10:52amYou kept them together, where a lot of people might have opted not to. For that, you have my respect.

August 28, 2006 at 10:30pmI definitely wanted a pair to keep each other company. As soon as the lady-in-charge heard that, she shoved these two into our arms. They are indeed very attached to each other and it would have been a shame to let someone split them up. When they each let me flip them on their backs and rub their bellies, it was a done deal.
