I spent Friday evening and Saturday at the Campbell Conference at KU. It was a little “thin” this year in terms of number of pro writers attending, but good discussions occurred none-the-less. MILESTONE: I’ve lost 18 pounds since Christmas. I tried on three pairs of pants this morning before I found a pair that fit, and that only with a belt to hold them up. Time to go shopping in my storage closet. There’s got to be SOMETHING in there that will fit. What’s my secret? I gave up wheat, high-fructose corn syrup, butter, cream, and deep-fat-fried. The weekend passed too quickly. Slept a good bit. Getting some of my spark back, in small spurts. Saw Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds” (worth the matinee price, definitely). Did a little cooking, for which I’m woefully out of practice. Watched fireworks and ate potluck with friends. Tomorrow, it’s back to work full time. Let’s hope the neighbors run out of fireworks soon….
It’s 9:20 a.m. and I’m already pooped. I’ve showered, dressed, and made it as far as the computer. Sigh. I think I’ll work from home today. Maybe I can squeeze in a nap before we go to Starlight.
